With its excellent power-to-weight ratio and compact dimensions, the Toyota GR 86 is a light and agile car, making it a true track weapon. In fact, the last place one would expect to encounter the small Japanese sports car is off the beaten path.
If you live in North America, there is a good chance you have never heard of Kuhl Racing. On the other side of the globe, however, the situation is completely different, as the tuner ranks among the best in its field. Kuhl Racing specializes in Japanese vehicles, which also includes minivans and SUVs. In fact, even the Prius can be considered a “cool” car when fitted with a Kuhl Racing body kit. While the company generally focuses on street-oriented modifications, it occasionally takes on more unconventional projects—such as today’s GR 86.
The Toyota GR 86 Kuhl Outroad is part of a new series introduced by the Japanese tuner. The idea behind the project is quite simple. One of the company’s owners wanted to be able to drive his car wherever he needed to go, including rally stages and outdoor adventures. The modification package developed by the tuner includes several accessories designed for off-road driving, such as traction rails that improve grip even in muddy conditions.
One thing is certain: there is a growing enthusiasm for this type of vehicle. The Toyota GR 86 Kuhl Outroad is not the first of its kind, and it is far from being the last.
